This class guides students through creating strong meaningful art pieces that meet college portfolio expectations even if you are just getting started. By the end of the course, students will have a finished portfolio of compelling pieces ready for college applications, AP Art submissions, competitions, and more.

We are here to help students who are interested in pursuing an art career or simply want to include an art portfolio in your college application. Our instructors are experienced with current portfolio requirements and work directly with students to build work that reflects both solid foundational skills and personal voice.
Students work in pencil, watercolor, and oil, building real skills that last. With Portfolio Prep class, students receive thoughtful, individualized instruction.

A practicing fine artist since the early 1980s, Kelvin Lei has been sharing his passion for drawing and painting with young artists and adults like. He later brought his experience and dedication to the United States, where he has been teaching in the Bay Area for over 20 years.
Rooted in traditional foundations, Kelvin’s approach emphasizes strong drawing skills above all. Under his guidance, many students have grown into confident artists, including his own daughters, who are Art Center College of Design graduates and working creative professionals.
